We are the South London local group of the Solidarity Federation, a nationwide network of groups in local communities and workplaces. The Solidarity Federation is the British section of the International Workers Association, which gives us strength, experience and solidarity worldwide.
We are dedicated to promoting working class self-reliance and organisation in south London. We believe people should have control of their lives and environments, at work and at home.
It is a basic principle of our politics that all struggles should be controlled by the people affected, not by political parties, union bureaucrats or self-proclaimed leaders.
You don't have to agree with everything we say to get involved. We encourage debate in a relaxed, open atmosphere.
We haven't got all the answers, but by working in a creative and democratic way we can be part of the process of creating solutions to many of the problems we face. We're attempting to go beyond the confines of stereotypical political groups. This means we work together as equals, sharing responsibilities, decision-making and jokes.
The local meets regularly, usually every fortnight. We hold events like socials, discussions, video-cafe nights, pickets and actions when the need or desire arises.
We believe in self-education and encourage skills in public speaking, writing, desktop publishing, collective decision making and organising at work. We produce propaganda on a wide range of issues from asylum seekers to temporary workers' rights.
Through our collective strength, imagination and mutual aid we can create a better world for us all.
